House of Sadaqa accepts donations of new and near-new clothing and household items at our Revesby warehouse, 6/60 Marigold Street. Items are either given directly to families through the Family Support Program or sold through The Goodwill Shop to fund our work.

What we can accept
- Clean clothing in good, wearable condition
- Shoes with plenty of wear left in them
- Homewares, kitchenware and small household items
- Bedding and linen, clean and undamaged
- New socks and underwear, which are always needed
What we cannot use
- Stained, torn, heavily worn or damaged clothing
- Used socks and underwear
- Wet or mouldy items
- Broken appliances or furniture needing repair
The simplest test: would you pass it to a friend? If the answer is no, it is not suitable. This is not fussiness. Unusable donations cost charities volunteer hours and landfill fees, which comes directly out of the work.
How to prepare a donation
- Wash everything. Items need to be ready to use or sell.
- Sort as you go. Separate clothing from homewares, and set aside anything damaged for textile recycling instead.
- Keep pairs together. Tie shoelaces together so shoes do not get separated.
- Bag or box it securely, so nothing gets wet or scattered in transit.
- Call ahead for large loads, so we have space to receive them.
What happens next
Donations are sorted, then either given directly to a family through the Family Support Program or priced for the shop, where sales fund the charity. Either way the item stays in use and out of landfill, which matters given how much textile waste Australia produces.
Items too damaged to donate
Do not put worn-out textiles in a charity donation. Many councils and some retailers run textile recycling schemes that can process fabric that is beyond wearing. Check your local council website for what is available in your area.
