It is the most common question any charity gets, and the answer people least expect. House of Sadaqa does not do pickups of furniture or used goods. Knowing that up front saves a wasted week waiting for a truck that was never coming.
Why not? Other charities collect.
Collection is expensive. A truck, fuel, insurance and two people for a day costs real money, and a large share of collected goods turn out to be unsaleable and have to be paid to dispose of. Money spent on logistics is money not spent on families.
So how do I donate?
Drop-off. The Goodwill Shop takes new and near-new items directly.
What do I do with used furniture then?
Your council's free bulky waste collection is usually the right route, and many councils now sort collected items for reuse. Community reuse groups and marketplace listings also find homes for furniture that is still good.
I have a large commercial donation. Same answer?
Contact House of Sadaqa first to agree how and where to deliver it. Large new-stock donations are welcome, but the arrangement is made in advance rather than by collection.
Does House of Sadaqa collect anything at all?
Container deposit items are handled differently through the Return for Good program, which has its own terms. Furniture and used goods are not collected.
What if I genuinely cannot transport my donation?
Ask someone. A single car boot load is usually enough for new and near-new items, which by their nature are rarely bulky.
Drop-off keeps more of every dollar with the families the shop exists to fund. Locations at The Goodwill Shop.
