A surprising number of people decide against volunteering because they assume there is a pile of paperwork, a police check and a weeks-long wait. For volunteering with House of Sadaqa, a Working With Children Check is not required. You can volunteer with House of Sadaqa without one.

Do I need a Working With Children Check?

No. A WWCC is not required to volunteer with House of Sadaqa.

Why do some charities require one and others do not?

A WWCC is required in New South Wales for child-related work. Roles that are not child-related do not trigger the requirement. House of Sadaqa volunteering is warehouse, community program and event work.

How old do I need to be?

18 or over. Under 18s are welcome when accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Do I need experience or qualifications?

No. The work is designed so someone with no background can be useful from the first shift.

How long before I can actually start?

Without a check to wait on, the limiting factor is simply arranging a time that suits both sides.

Is it different if I am doing a WDO or Work for the Dole placement?

Those have their own paperwork through Revenue NSW or your employment services provider, but the volunteering requirements at House of Sadaqa are the same.

If paperwork was the thing holding you back, it is not the obstacle you thought. Start here: volunteer with House of Sadaqa.
