People start a Work and Development Order with good intentions and then a job, a health episode or a housing crisis gets in the way. The fear of having failed stops a lot of people from going back. It should not. Here is the practical picture, and why the worst thing you can do is go quiet.

Do I lose the credit I already earned?

Credit already reported for completed activity has already been applied to your debt. Stopping does not undo work you have already done.

What should I do if I know I am going to miss shifts?

Tell your sponsor before it happens, not after. Sponsors deal with this constantly and can usually adjust the arrangement. Silence is what turns a manageable pause into a cancelled order.

Can a WDO be cancelled?

Yes, an order can be varied or cancelled, and if it is cancelled the remaining debt returns to normal enforcement. That is precisely why early contact matters.

Can I restart later?

People do restart. If your circumstances changed and have since settled, raise it with a sponsor rather than assuming the door is shut.

What if my situation has changed so much that a WDO no longer fits?

Then a payment plan, a write-off application or financial counselling may fit better. Legal Aid NSW can point you at free options, and a financial counsellor costs nothing.

Will I get in trouble for stopping?

A WDO is not a court order you are breaching by stopping. It is a scheme for reducing debt. If it stops, you are back where you were on the debt, not in a worse legal position.

If you are looking to start, or restart, House of Sadaqa is an approved WDO sponsor in Sydney: House of Sadaqa WDO page. Scheme rules come from Revenue NSW; confirm your own order with Revenue NSW or your sponsor.
