The Goodwill Shop is House of Sadaqa’s op-shop, with stores in Bankstown and Revesby, selling quality preloved clothing and household goods at affordable prices. It was the first op-shop of its kind in Sydney’s Muslim community, and it remains the oldest of our social enterprises.
Why a charity opened a shop
The idea was straightforward. Donated goods were arriving faster than they could be given away, families needed affordable essentials, and the charity needed income that did not depend on appeals. A shop solved all three at once.
It also proved something that shaped everything after it: a charity could run a genuine business without compromising its mission. Every enterprise we have launched since, from the laundry to Panda Paper to Goodwill Connect, follows the pattern the shop established.

- Books, bric-a-brac and the usual op-shop surprises
- Modest fashion, which is harder to find secondhand elsewhere
Stock changes constantly, which is the appeal. Regulars visit often, because what is there this week will not be there next week.

Three things happen when you shop here
- Families get affordable goods. For households on tight budgets, an op-shop is not a lifestyle choice, it is how the kids get school clothes.
- Items stay out of landfill. Textile waste is a significant environmental problem, and reuse is the most effective response to it.
- Profits fund the charity. Money from the till goes into the Family Support Program.
Donating goods
We accept new and near-new items, which are either sold through the shop or given directly to families through the Family Support Program. Please bring items clean and in good condition.
