If you are a caseworker, community worker or support service in Sydney, you can refer a family to the House of Sadaqa Family Support Program through our online referral form. We help with household essentials, whitegoods and furniture for families in crisis, and referrals are assessed case by case.

What we can provide

  • Whitegoods. Fridges, washing machines and other essential appliances.
  • Furniture. Beds, mattresses, tables and the basics that make a property liveable.
  • Household essentials. Kitchenware, linen, and the everyday items needed to set up a home.
  • Emergency relief. Practical support for families in immediate crisis.

We are strongest at the point where a family has secured housing but has nothing to put in it. That is the gap we were built to fill.

Who we can help

Families and individuals across Sydney facing genuine hardship, including those affected by family breakdown, domestic and family violence, financial hardship, homelessness or isolation. Support is not limited by background or faith.

What to include in a referral

The more complete the referral, the faster we can act. Useful detail includes:

  • Household composition, including the number and ages of children
  • The specific items needed, in priority order
  • Current housing situation and whether the property is ready to receive deliveries
  • Access considerations such as stairs, lifts or parking
  • Timeframes, particularly if there is a move-in date
  • Your contact details as the referrer, and the best way to reach the family

If a matter is urgent or unusual, say so in the form rather than assuming it will be obvious.

What happens next

Our team reviews each referral and assesses it against current capacity and stock. Where we can help, we arrange delivery of the items. Where we cannot, we will tell you rather than leave you waiting.

Being honest about this: demand consistently exceeds what we hold. Referrals help us direct limited resources to the families in greatest need, and a well-documented referral genuinely helps your client’s case.

If you are a family, not a worker

You do not need to navigate this alone. Ask a caseworker, community organisation, school or support service to refer you, or contact our team and we will point you in the right direction. Our guide on how the Family Support Program works explains more.

If you need help right now: in an emergency call 000. For confidential family and domestic violence counselling, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732, available 24 hours. In NSW you can also call the Domestic Violence Line on 1800 656 463. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Frequently asked questions

Who can submit a referral?

Caseworkers, community workers, schools, health services and other support organisations. Families can also contact us directly and we will guide them on the next step.

How long does a referral take?

It depends on current capacity and stock. Our team reviews each referral and will let you know the outcome rather than leaving it open ended.

Do you help people of all backgrounds?

Yes. Support is based on need, not background or faith.

What if the family needs something you do not list?

Include it in the referral anyway. If we cannot provide it, we may be able to suggest another service.

Is there a cost to the family?

No. Support through the Family Support Program is provided free to families assessed as eligible.
