There are six practical ways to support House of Sadaqa: donate money, give zakat, volunteer time, donate goods, clear a fine through a Work and Development Order, or switch a purchase to one of our social enterprises. Only the first two involve giving money away.
1. Donate
Donations fund the Family Support Program, supplying whitegoods, furniture and essentials to families in crisis. Gifts over $2 are tax-deductible, since House of Sadaqa is DGR endorsed. Small recurring donations are especially useful, because predictable income lets programs be planned. More on why in why small acts count.
2. Give your zakat
Zakat is kept separate from general donations and directed to eligible recipients under our Zakat Policy. If you are unsure what you owe, see how to calculate your zakat. You can also contribute to the Waqf Fund as ongoing charity.
3. Volunteer
Warehouse sorting, packing essentials, homeless outreach, op-shop shifts and events. No experience needed and no minimum commitment. See volunteering in Sydney, or bring your workplace team.
4. Donate goods
New and near-new clothing, homewares and working whitegoods can be dropped at our Revesby warehouse. Please check what we can accept first, and note we no longer run clothing bin collections.
5. Clear a fine through a WDO
If you have unpaid Revenue NSW fines and are experiencing hardship, supervised volunteering with us can reduce that debt. It helps you and it helps us. See WDO eligibility.
6. Switch a purchase
The easiest option, because it costs nothing extra. Buy Panda Paper instead of supermarket toilet paper, move your internet to Goodwill Connect, wash at The Goodwill Laundry, or shop at The Goodwill Shop. Profits fund the charity.
